Have made a smart, portable electric lunchbox via bluetooth controlled heating, should i manufacture and sell this on my own or sell the technology to established players in exchange of equity for broader maket access and scalability
Thanks Harehar for the question. The answer to this depends on lots of things. First step as always starts with the customer need and validation of the same. 1. is there a need for this product. The other option for your customers will be to heat in a microwave in the office. 2. will the heating element make the product cumbersome for customers to carry it. 3. does it need to be plugged to a power plug. If so if it becomes a big then to provide as many power plugs in offices might be a challenge. After having validated the customer need the questions to ask are 1. How easy is it to replicate this technology. If it is easy then an established player will incorporate it in his product and thats the end of your idea. 2. If its a unique patented technology which is difficult to replicate you have two options. (i) help an established tiffin manufacturer to build the product (ii) if you can raise sufficient money you can go on your own also. But my guess is it will be a difficult journey. It depends on your conviction and your ability to find investors to take this route. Hope this is helpful. Please do reach out if you have further questions.
Harehar Seth - Thanks your the response Firstly i think there is a need of this product as in schools colleges and in fact many offices microwaves arent available despite the heating element it would be portable and also it doesnt recquire a charging point as it is battery powered also we are filing for a patent alongside we were considering of starting the manufacturing process but it recquires huge capital
Roy Cherian - Great to hear that Nevertheless I would still urge you to expose the concept to the target customers and get a feedback As for manufacturing I guess the bigger expense will in making the tiffin than the electronic component One way to get around will be to tied up with a small tiffin manufacturer for production Will reach out directly and chat on this
